At the NRF 2023: Retail's Big Show, Guy Yehiav, Senior Vice President of SmartSense by Digi, discussed the company's sensing-as-a-service solutions. He stated that SmartSense helps secure product quality by monitoring temperature, humidity, and shelf availability, and that the company secures over two billion dollars of products daily. Yehiav noted that SmartSense has opened its sensor platform to work with competitor sensors, allowing customers to integrate existing devices. He also described a Gateway that connects various sensor protocols and sends data to the cloud via cell towers, which he said reduces cyberattack risks. Yehiav emphasized that the industry trend is moving beyond data collection to turning data into actionable tasks, a practice he said SmartSense has followed for 12 years. He added that the company has been approached by competitors and partners to collaborate on its open platform. Yehiav also highlighted a food probe that connects to Bluetooth devices and uses green and red lights to indicate food temperature compliance.
