From Melanie Morgan: Al Franken harassed me after TV appearance · · Fox News
“I am here because a true story that I want to share with you. It is a story of harassment and intimidation that took place 17 years ago in 2000 August 19th, when I was invited to appear on the Bill Maher show. After the show, Al Franken stalked me back to the green room, got very aggressive, and then followed me out of the studio. He got my phone number from a show producer and started calling me at home, harassing me to prove how right he was. I found it so creepy and disturbing that I threatened to call the police if he didn't back off.”
On , Melanie Morgan, Executive Vice President and Director of Corporate Communications & Marketing at TRUSTMARK CORP, spoke about sexual harassment during Melanie Morgan: Al Franken harassed me after TV appearance on Fox News.
In September 2018, Melanie Morgan, then a co-founder of Media Equalizer, appeared on Fox News's "The Ingraham Angle" to discuss her experiences with then-Senator Al Franken. Morgan stated that in August 2000, after a joint appearance on the Bill Maher show, Franken followed her to the green room, became aggressive, and later obtained her phone number from a producer and called her at home. She said she found the behavior "creepy and disturbing" and threatened to call the police. Morgan said she had discussed the incident on her San Francisco radio show at the time but that people "didn't seem to care about that sort of behavior until just recently." During the same interview, Morgan criticized Franken's past writings, including a 1995 New York magazine article in which Franken described giving pills to journalist Lesley Stahl and then raping her while she was unconscious. Morgan characterized this as speaking to "the mindset of the man." She also questioned why Minnesota voters had elected Franken to the Senate, while acknowledging the election was fair, and argued that the media had given Franken "fluffy coverage" that shielded him from scrutiny.
