“I believe it is possible to inform those that are unaware of the learning opportunities available for their children now through public information nights, mail outs, mass and social media, the internet and face to face communication whenever possible.”
On , Matthew Jacobs, MD & Chief Credit Officer at FRANKLIN BSP REALTY TRUST IN, spoke about public communication during prairie south forum-matthew jacobs on Discover Moose Jaw.
Matthew Jacobs, a candidate for the Prairie South School Board in 2012, participated in a candidate forum on October 11, 2012. During the forum, Jacobs stated that he grew up in Moose Jaw and called the city home. He said that good schools contribute to good business and a competitive nation, and that the world is changing, requiring education to adapt. Jacobs expressed a desire to be a leader in the learning community who is also a listener, and said that if elected he would be an advocate for education who considers the community's values and prioritizes the educational needs of children. Jacobs discussed the role of the Prairie South School Division in early childhood education, noting that it already ran seven pre-kindergarten programs in Moose Jaw and an early learning program with the YMCA. He said the division should take a proactive stance to inform the community about available early childhood education through methods such as public information nights, mail outs, and social media. Jacobs also stated that the division's future role should involve providing additional funding to create more capacity for higher enrollment and opening pre-kindergarten programming in rural locations. He remarked that large amounts of money are poured into infrastructure and suggested that the system might need to be utilized more intensively.
