From The Game's the Game: The Current State of Digital Assets Feat. Yat Siu · · Blockchain Won't Save The World
“I can't think of a more relevant, bigger opportunity than broadly speaking the digital asset opportunity. And it comes from a couple of uh frameworks. One, do you believe we're going to be spending more time online? Well, if you do, then it kind of makes sense to sort of, you know, delve in the asset class of that growth category. Like if you think of sort of digital as a nation or as a country, it's kind of like the new America, right? Uncharted.”
On , Yat Siu, Executive Chairman & Co-Founder at Animoca Brands, spoke about digital assets during The Game's the Game: The Current State of Digital Assets Feat. Yat Siu on Blockchain Won't Save The World.
Yat Siu, executive chairman and co-founder of Animoca Brands, has argued in recent interviews that cryptocurrency was not designed for human use and that its primary purpose is to serve as infrastructure for AI agents. He stated that "code is their natural language" and that in a future where agents transact with each other, those transactions will occur on-chain. Siu also said he personally deploys over 230 AI agents for tasks including writing code and finding market arbitrage, and he advised others to start using autonomous agents rather than basic chat interfaces. He described the shift toward an "agentic web" or "Web4," where billions of AI agents will operate online. Siu discussed Animoca Brands' focus on altcoins, stablecoins, and real-world assets. He noted that the company's joint venture Anchor Point, formed with Standard Chartered and Hong Kong Telecom, received a stablecoin license in Hong Kong. He also said that on-chain user numbers have remained around 70 million while token holders have grown to nearly 800 million, and he attributed the lack of altcoin appreciation to this gap. Siu described memecoins as a reaction to past regulatory hostility and predicted they would become less important as regulatory clarity increases. He also stated that he believes altcoins will collectively outperform Bitcoin.
