Amy Davis, Vice President and President of Accelera by Cummins and Components at Cummins, has discussed the company's work on battery electric and hydrogen fuel cell technologies for commercial vehicles. In a 2023 CNBC appearance, Davis stated that adoption of new battery technologies in the commercial sector faces challenges, including infrastructure needs and the requirement for fast refueling to maintain vehicle uptime. She said that customers are piloting the technology and that large-scale adoption will take years. Davis also described hydrogen fuel cells as a way to provide electricity for applications requiring more power and range than batteries alone can supply.
