Raul Valentin, Executive Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer at Astec, was featured in a September 2024 Advent International video marking Hispanic Heritage Month. In the video, Valentin discussed his role in Advent’s portfolio support group and his five-year tenure at the firm. He described the firm’s Latin at Advent initiative as “one of the first Latino diversity initiatives in private Equity,” stating that it provides “differentiated access to talent that probably right now is a little bit harder to find.” Valentin also commented on the value of diversity, saying that “diversity drives value not for the sake of diversity but because different points of view brings a lot of strength to the group.” He added that Advent encourages employees to “bring sort of our uniqueness into portfolio companies into deal environments into the internal workings of the company,” contrasting this with other workplaces that he said do not encourage people to be themselves.
