Mohammad Abu-Ghazaleh, chairman and CEO of Fresh Del Monte Produce, received an honorary doctorate of letters from the American University in Cairo (AUC) during its June 2025 commencement ceremony. In his remarks, Abu-Ghazaleh said the recognition "completes a chapter that remained unfinished for nearly 60 years." He explained that he graduated in December 1966 but was unable to participate in the 1967 commencement ceremony because the "war of 1967 changed everything," and his diploma was mailed to him. He described the delayed ceremony as "worth the wait." Addressing the graduating class, Abu-Ghazaleh said, "Cherish this moment and honor the responsibility that comes with your education. The world will challenge you, but it will also need your courage, your vision, and your voice."
