“I joined Dexcom in January of this year — just under six months with Dexcom — and I spent the prior 20 years of my career with Johnson & Johnson leading a variety of business units, including taking over as GM of Animas after J&J acquired them.”
On , Teri Lawver, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer at DexCom, spoke about career during Inside Dexcom's Announcements from ADA with Chief Commercial Officer Teri Lawver on DiabetesConnections.
Teri Lawver, Executive Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer at Dexcom, discussed the company’s recent announcements and strategic direction in a July 2023 podcast recorded at the American Diabetes Association Scientific Sessions. Lawver, who joined Dexcom in January 2023 after 20 years at Johnson & Johnson, stated that Dexcom’s teams are working with "great urgency" to connect the G7 continuous glucose monitor (CGM) to its current pump partners. She also noted that Dexcom plans to launch direct-to-watch connectivity for the G7 by the end of 2023, though she declined to share technical details. Lawver described Dexcom’s efforts to expand CGM access to people with type 2 diabetes who are not on insulin, citing a real-world evidence study of more than 7,200 such users that showed "significant improvements in glycemic control." She said the company is developing a version of the G7 tailored to that population, with different software and user experience, while continuing to serve the type 1 diabetes community. Lawver emphasized that Dexcom aims to "meet the needs distinctly for each population" and that the company’s leadership in connectivity remains central to its strategy.
