About Arif Janmohamed
Arif Janmohamed, a partner at Lightspeed Venture Partners, has discussed the firm's investment strategy and his personal background in several recent appearances. In a December 2025 interview, Janmohamed described his childhood as a sick child with severe asthma who spent time reading and playing with computers. He recounted that after initially striking out in five interviews in 2003, he later received five offers in 2008 and joined Lightspeed, which he said had 12 people at the time and has since grown to invest from a $7 billion fund. He noted that while there is exuberance around new technology, what is different today is that the technology has advanced and business models are generating revenue. Janmohamed has also previously discussed Lightspeed's fundraising, including the closing of three funds totaling $4.2 billion in 2020, and has advised founders to think long-term, pick big markets, and partner with exceptional people.
