From Specialized support for children with disabilities — interview with Emily Lough · · YourAlberta (Government of Alberta)
“I love how I've been able to see the kids learn the skills not only in the school but be able to generalize them to the home as well because so often the kids are learning skills at school and the parents have no idea what they're doing at school.”
On , Emily Lough, Vice President & General Counsel at COHU INC, spoke about skill generalization during Specialized support for children with disabilities — interview with Emily Lough on YourAlberta (Government of Alberta).
Emily Lough, Vice President and General Counsel at Cohu, was interviewed in 2011 about a pilot project providing specialized support for children with disabilities. Lough said the project had enabled positive relationships with her pilot partners and improved communication among them. She stated that the initiative allowed professionals to discuss the child as a whole rather than focusing separately on school and home activities. Lough expressed support for expanding the project provincewide. She also noted that she had observed children learning skills at school and generalizing them to the home, and she described the value of helping parents understand what their child is doing at school so those skills can be made functional at home.
