Richard Kelley, president, CEO, and director of Geospace, has described a near-death experience he said occurred when he was 15 years old. In a 2015 interview, Kelley stated that he drowned in the ocean after being caught in a wave while on a blowup raft. He recounted experiencing a profound sense of peace and feeling loved, and said he perceived himself leaving Earth and viewing the planet from space, where he felt all information about any person's life was available. Kelley described the experience as being in a "wonderful place" where he felt "completely loved and in touch with a vast array of other beings," and said he was told it was not his time to go.
