“I want Delta to be really successful in this market — I think we can both be successful. Delta has about 60% of the market locally, we have about 20% and everybody else has 20%; it's important to have clarity of mission that ties disparate job functions together.”
On , Jude Bricker, Chief Executive Officer & Director at SUN CONTY AIR HLD INC, spoke about competition during November 2025 Good Leadership Breakfast on Good Leadership Enterprises.
Jude Bricker, CEO of Sun Country Airlines, has emphasized the airline's focus on operational excellence, safety, and its unique variable capacity business model. He has described the airline's "secret sauce" as the ability to fly large schedules during peak travel periods and reduce them significantly during off-peak times, noting that the airline is about three times larger in July than in September. Bricker has stated that Sun Country was the most profitable U.S. airline in 2023 and that the company came through the COVID-19 pandemic in a strong position due to its cargo business. He has also discussed the importance of empowering all employees to give safety feedback, a practice he calls "Crew Resource Management," and has expressed confidence in the NTSB's investigation into recent aviation incidents. Bricker has commented on industry-wide challenges, including air traffic control staffing shortages and post-pandemic capacity pressures, which he said have led to higher airfares. He has stated that Sun Country is not pursuing growth through new aircraft like the Boeing 737 MAX, citing a value gap, and instead plans to focus on scaling its cargo partnership with Amazon and improving customer experience through digital automation. Bricker has also noted that the airline is focused on maintaining a complementary relationship with Delta Air Lines in Minneapolis, stating that he wants Delta to be successful in the market and that the two carriers serve different customer bases.
