From Being a Buckeye means 'everything': Elicia Azali (BSBA '05) · · Fisher College of Business
“I was admittedly a little nervous and for some reason I allowed doubt to enter my thoughts -- thoughts like how will I stack up at P&G next to the Harvard and Wharton MBA grads with five years experience at McKinsey with just my undergraduate degree?”
On , Elicia Azali, Chief Marketing Officer at BEAZER HOMES USA INC, spoke about self-doubt during Being a Buckeye means 'everything': Elicia Azali (BSBA '05) on Fisher College of Business.
Elicia Azali, Chief Marketing Officer at Beazer Homes USA, received the Executive Pace Setters Award from Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business in 2021. In a video about the recognition, Azali described her undergraduate experience at OSU as "transformational" and said she was "truly honored" to receive the award. She reflected on receiving the same award as a student in 2005, recalling that it came at a time when she was experiencing self-doubt after securing a full-time assistant brand manager role at Procter & Gamble. Azali said she had questioned whether she deserved the job and how she would compare to colleagues from elite institutions. She noted that the undergraduate Pace Setters award, which recognized academic performance and leadership, helped "reground" her. In her remarks, Azali urged others "to not let where you've been get in the way of where you're going" and emphasized that "the only voice that will matter is the one you choose to believe."
