About Eric Helm
In a 2018 testimony, Eric Helm described being raised in a "great moral home" and initially pursuing bodybuilding, winning teenage Mr. Georgia and teenage Mr. Atlanta contests. He stated that he wanted "the fame, fortune, popularity, prestige and the girls and the fast cars and the money." Helm said he began using and selling drugs, including steroids, and that "on the outside I look great but on the inside I was a wreck." He recounted meeting a woman at a fitness center who invited him to church, where he heard a preacher speaking about having a personal relationship with Jesus. Helm said he became a Christian, got off drugs, and later married that woman, with whom he has five children. In a 2020 podcast appearance, Helm discussed topics including love, relationships, and personal conduct. He stated that "love produce love, hate produce hate" and argued that unconditional love does not require tolerating destructive behavior, saying "if you lying to me what that produce a feeling of hate." He also commented on dating dynamics, asserting that "so many men nowadays validate that you ain't got to come with no substances, that's all it looks," and recalled a past saying that "it ain't the beauty, it's the duty."
