“I will put my money where wherever the management of the country is at at its best. That's the only in my personal opinion it's one of the few places in the Arab world that the the rulers care about their people, improve their people lives, provide their people with everything they can do and they manage their country as an open country for investments.”
On , Naguib Sawiris, Executive Chairman at Orascom, spoke about investment during Naguib Sawiris: Trump’s War Saved Iran on Hadley Gamble.
Naguib Sawiris, the Egyptian billionaire and executive chairman of Orascom, stated in a November 2025 interview that the U.S. war against Iran under Donald Trump "came to save" the Iranian regime, which he described as being "on the verge of collapse" before the conflict. He also said that Iran's economic situation has worsened after the war due to bombings and renewed defense spending. Sawiris criticized Trump's approach, saying the U.S. president is "making the whole world unrestful" and that frequent threats undermine American credibility. In the same conversation, Sawiris characterized the current global landscape as "a total mess," citing the Russia-Ukraine war, U.S.-Europe tensions, and divisions within the Arab world. He described Brexit as a "disaster" for the UK and said Britain has shown poor leadership. Speaking on investment, Sawiris said he would put his money in countries where "the rulers care about their people" and cited one unnamed Arab state as an example of a well-managed, open economy. He also predicted that OPEC may not survive the war and that oil prices will not surge afterward.
