Mario Harik on capital investment

From 44th Annual William A. Patterson Distinguished Transportation Lecture: Mario Harik · · Northwestern Engineering

“In trucking what you want to do you want to invest in the trough of the cycle when the when actually demand is down this is when you need to deploy capital because once the cycle starts turning it's too too late to deploy that capital at that point in time whatever capacity you have you're locked into it. So reason number one was knowing that the industry is capacity constrained knowing that one of our northstar our northstar is to provide excellent service for the customer. We didn't want in the context of an upcycle where we say no to the customer where we actually disappoint the customer.”
