Sivasankaran Somasundaram, President and CEO of ChampionX, has spoken about the company's purpose and operations. He stated that ChampionX is a purpose-driven organization that enables customers to produce oil and gas in a "safe, efficient and sustainable manner." He noted the company has over 7,500 employees, operates in more than 70 countries, and has approximately $4 billion in revenue. In March 2023, he inaugurated a ChampionX Global Technology Center in Chennai, India, describing it as a testament to the company's belief in the talent and potential of India. He has also discussed his background, saying he grew up in a village in southern India, earned a mechanical engineering degree, and came to the U.S. for graduate studies at the University of Oklahoma, which he described as a cost-effective choice. Somasundaram has commented on leadership and company culture. He described his approach as servant leadership and said he prays to "never forget my roots and never feel entitled." He stated that the company has a "pipeline to CEO" email system where he personally responds to every employee message and publishes the exchanges on the company intranet for transparency. On diversity, he said about 24% of the company's people leaders are women and set a five-year goal to increase that to 30%, attributing the gap to "unconscious bias."
