On , Martin Cohen, Co-Founder & Chairman at COHEN & STEERS INC, spoke about product reliability during Martin Cohen Discusses Strategic Planning on MDC Corporation.
Martin Cohen, co-founder and chairman of Cohen & Steers, has been active in discussions about real estate investment and strategic planning. In September 2024, Cohen & Steers' head of real estate strategy, Rich Hill, stated that the "worst is behind us" for listed REITs, noting that global listed REITs had rebounded around 21% over the prior two months. Hill attributed the recovery to a rotation driven by fundamental reasons, including investors covering underweight positions and hedge funds covering short positions. He also said that listed REITs have strong balance sheets, with loan-to-values below 35% in the US and 40% in Continental Europe, and that office properties represent a small portion of the listed REIT market. In other appearances, Cohen has discussed topics ranging from equestrian equipment to family office investing. In a 2025 video, he described himself as the inventor of MDC Stirrups and promoted the design's benefits for riding position and safety. In a September 2025 discussion, he contrasted family offices with private equity firms, stating that family offices are "operators" rather than "financial engineers" and that operations are more important for long-term company success. Cohen has also reflected on his career, noting that his NYU Stern education helped him learn to synthesize problems and articulate critical variables.
