About Patrick Murphy
Patrick Murphy, Senior Vice President of Hospitality at St Joe, has been involved in construction technology and green building materials. He introduced RENCO, a building material made from recycled glass, plastic, and limestone dust that he described as "80% greener than traditional materials" and "about 20% less expensive." Murphy also founded Togal.ai, an AI-powered tool that automates construction takeoffs, compressing "weeks of work into mere seconds." He stated that the company spun out a separate firm called Code Comply to automate code compliance for fire, life safety, and ADA requirements. Murphy said he has been spending "a lot of my time these days in this world of AI as it relates to construction." Murphy has also spoken about leadership and government. In a keynote address, he said "the crux of leadership is solving problems" and that "leadership is inspiring others to do something they otherwise would not do." Reflecting on his time in Congress, Murphy stated that "the whole conversation is just about getting reelected" and that "the incentives are bad." He also commented on the construction industry's productivity, saying "over the last 50 years... the construction industry has had a 0% increase in productivity." Murphy expressed the view that "all knowledge workers... should be the most concerned with AI" while "the mechanic and the plumber are going to be raking it in."
