“O cara fala tudo bem, boa sorte, sucesso. Ah mas o meu dinheiro você não leva. E eu já ouvi uma história... o Davi, ele teve essa primeira ideia do Nubank porque ele é colombiano e foi tentar abrir conta aqui no Brasil e foi uma burocracia muito grande.”
On , Cristina Junqueira, Former Co-Founder at Nubank, spoke about banking bureaucracy during CRISTINA JUNQUEIRA - Co-fundadora conta como surgiu o NUBANK on Mentes de Sucesso.
Cristina Junqueira, co-founder of Nubank, was recognized as one of the 50 most impactful women in global business at the CNBC Changemakers Summit 2026 in New York. At the event, she participated in a panel on financial inclusion and expanding access to banking services. Junqueira discussed Nubank's growth to more than 130 million customers, stating that the company was founded to address what she described as high fees, high interest rates, and poor customer experiences at incumbent banks. She said that the company's thesis — that technology and design can reduce inefficiency and bureaucracy — applies globally, and that Nubank is now ready to expand beyond Latin America into the United States. Junqueira noted that the U.S. financial services industry is expected to grow by the size of Brazil's market over the next five years, and that even a small market share would double Nubank's business. In a separate podcast interview, Junqueira said that more than 80% of Nubank's clients join without direct marketing attribution, and that the company has no sales department. She described Nubank's first value as wanting clients to "love us fanatically," and said the company has built emotional connections through partnerships with brands like Mercedes F1 and Inter Miami. Junqueira also discussed the difficulty of balancing career and family, advising that if family is a priority, one should prioritize it rather than wait for a perfect moment.
