J Mahindra, cofounder of Mahindra Rise, served as a jury member for the 2024 Mahindra Rise Challenge. He commented on the confidence and depth of understanding demonstrated by young management graduates who presented, stating that India is "full of young innovators" and that the future is bright for both Mahindra and India. He noted that participants used their five-minute presentations effectively by being concise and using limited slides, and he recalled specific ideas on sustainability, including hydroponics and the generation of solar and wind energy out in the ocean. Mahindra said that some of those ideas are being used to develop the company's technology stack for its sustainability business. He also highlighted a moment when a participant's idea caused the company's auto team to reconsider its strategy in a particular segment, calling that "the beauty of getting new ideas." In a 2019 discussion on navigating global instability, Mahindra argued that the pursuit of profit and capitalism are key to addressing climate change, calling it "the biggest profit opportunity for business in the next decades." He stated that the energy transition is a tremendous business opportunity and that companies should commit to carbon neutrality to finance the build-out. Mahindra also expressed optimism about the creativity and drive of American business leaders, saying that seeing them present gave him confidence in the long-term prospects of the country.
