Paul Baker, Chief Operating Officer for Government & Industrial and Strategic Business Officer at Kopin, has spoken publicly about voice interface technology and the company's "whisper voice extraction" technology. In presentations at ARIA 2019 and AWE USA 2018, Baker stated that the world is transitioning from touch-based to voice-based interfaces, describing advantages such as hands-free and eyes-up operation, increased safety, and faster interaction. He said that speech recognition accuracy in quiet environments is typically around 90 percent but drops dramatically in noisy conditions, and argued that the problem is not the speech engine but how noise is designed for and managed. Baker described Kopin's approach as using dynamic analysis of the acoustic environment to extract the voice signal from noise without modifying the voice itself, and said the technology works with any speech engine, operating system, or processor platform. In July 2025, Baker served as a guest preacher at Farmville Presbyterian Church, where he delivered a sermon on the Apostle Paul's letter to the Colossians. During the service, he led a prayer for government leaders to "put away all weapons of war and to become your instruments of peace and reconciliation."
