In a September 2021 CNBC interview, ASGN CEO Ted Hanson discussed the post-pandemic workforce, stating that "the future of work has changed" and that clients are "thinking differently" about it. He said the pandemic demonstrated that remote work is effective, noting that his company has "learned how to manage productivity" and "collaborate" remotely. Hanson reported that clients are now "open to access talent anywhere in the U.S.," not just in specific geographic locations, and described the opportunities for tech workers as "boundless." Hanson also highlighted a surge in demand for specific IT roles over the prior six months, including project management, business analyst capabilities, cloud, information security, and data and business intelligence. He added that requests from clients for remote work had increased "over 300 percent." Hanson acknowledged that workers would return to offices "to some degree" but predicted a hybrid model going forward.
