On January 5, 2022, Catalent announced that its Board of Directors had appointed Alessandro Maselli, then President and Chief Operating Officer, to become the company’s next President and Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2022. Maselli was also set to join the Board of Directors upon assuming the role. Outgoing CEO John Chiminski stated that the board had unanimously appointed Maselli, whom he described as an "outstanding leader" and "the perfect person to lead Catalen forward." Chiminski planned to remain as CEO until July 1, 2022, and then become Executive Chair of the Board. In remarks following the announcement, Maselli thanked Chiminski for his leadership and said the company had "great momentum and extraordinary foundations" to continue its track record of performance and growth. He attributed the company’s achievements to the "talent, commitment and dedication" of its employees and stated that the "recipe for success" would not change, emphasizing a strategy built on a "patient first" value and "excellence in quality and operations."
