Martin Cotter, President of ADI EMEA and Vice President of Industrial Multi-Markets at Analog Devices, has discussed the company's focus on "powering the intelligent Edge" through technologies for sensing, precision, and high-speed power. In a 2023 interview at SPS, he stated that the deployment of intelligent Edge technologies is aimed at increasing efficiency, noting that "about just under 40% of energy is used in factories" and that these technologies are "all about getting more out of the same energy or less energy." Cotter said the company has a goal of enabling "2x efficiency of every industrial and building" and that "we need to get twice the efficiency out of every joule of energy that we use today" to meet climate targets. He described co-creation with customers, such as General Motors on wireless battery management systems, as a method to solve architectural problems, and noted that many investments are "aimed at a very big efficiency of purpose." In a 2016 interview, Cotter described Analog Devices as "the measurement sensing company" that captures data at the sensor and analyzes it to transform it into information, adding value through analytics at the node and the cloud.
