“Safety and security are top priorities, and ON Semiconductor invests heavily in cybersecurity measures to ensure that data from sensors and perception systems is protected from breaches and misuse.”
On , Ross Jatou, Senior Vice President & GM of Intelligent Sensing Group at ON Semiconductor Corporation, spoke about cybersecurity during ON Semiconductor's SVP & GM Intelligent Sensing Group Ross Jatou on MoorInsightsStrategy.
Ross Jatou, Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Intelligent Sensing Group at ON Semiconductor, discussed the company's role in automotive sensing and autonomous driving in a November 2020 podcast with Moor Insights & Strategy. Jatou stated that ON Semiconductor offers cameras, radar, and lidar technologies, and described the company as the only vendor providing all three sensor types. He noted that perception remains a major challenge for full autonomy, particularly in complex conditions such as snow or fog, and that lidar's role is expected to grow as costs decrease, with an average of one lidar in level 3 vehicles and four additional lidars in level 5 vehicles. Jatou emphasized that ON Semiconductor is investing in cybersecurity measures for its newer products to protect sensor data from breaches and misuse. He also said that Europe has been a leader in driver monitoring regulations, citing Euro NCAP assessments, and that in-cabin monitoring systems are driven by the high percentage of accidents caused by driver error. Jatou added that demand for high-resolution sensors is growing rapidly, which he said will challenge supply chains and manufacturing capacity.
