Yijun Wang, Executive Vice President of Commercial at Mosaic, gave a presentation on depression on September 16, 2024. Wang discussed the global prevalence of depression, citing a World Health Organization definition and noting that depression causes an estimated economic loss of nearly $1 trillion. Wang compared depression rates and healthcare systems in the United States, Japan, and China, stating that the U.S. has a major depressive disorder rate of 5.9% and a market-based healthcare system focused on acute care, which Wang said leads to high costs and difficulty for patients in accessing early treatment.
