Robert Fauber became President and CEO of Moody's on January 4, 2021, after more than 15 years with the company. In a statement marking his appointment, Fauber described taping a handwritten note to his door when he first became president of the rating agency, inviting colleagues to "stop by and say hello." He said Moody's "has done a wonderful job during COVID" and that he was "proud of our people and our organization," adding that the company learned "to listen to each other, to support each other and to care for each other." Fauber said the company is "incredibly important to the functioning of global capital markets" and noted that it was conducting its work from home. He expressed excitement about the "opportunity that's in front of us" in 2021, citing "the demand for the assessment and understanding and measurement of risk" as "probably greater than it's ever been." He also highlighted plans for "expanding the data sets and the analytic capabilities and technology capabilities of the firm."
