In a September 2020 appearance, Brendan McGill addressed what he described as a "lying web page" that referenced his past leave of absence from the Boca Raton Police Department. McGill stated that the leave of absence occurred due to "harassment and corruption" at the department. He said that six individuals were arrested and pleaded guilty, and that the threat was real. McGill also stated that his wife was harassed and followed, and that officers' personal cars were vandalized for exposing corruption. He characterized the arrests and guilty pleas as the "full story."
