From How AI Will Finally Deliver the Promise SaaS Made | Samay Kohli: From Robots to Digital Workers · · The Neon Show
“The original promise of SaaS was: instead of buying new versions every year, pay a subscription and the provider will keep updating the software for you — that promise has not been true for enterprises. I feel the next decade is not about replacing SaaS; it's about using SaaS more and having a digital worker adopt and use new features so users don't need to handle every change themselves.”
On , Samay Kohli, Cofounder at GreyOrange, spoke about SaaS during How AI Will Finally Deliver the Promise SaaS Made | Samay Kohli: From Robots to Digital Workers on The Neon Show.
Samay Kohli, co-founder of GreyOrange, has been discussing his transition from warehouse robotics to a new venture called Budy, which focuses on the U.S. senior care industry. He described the decision-making in that industry as emotional, with sales cycles that can last years and multiple stakeholders involved. Kohli stated that Budy builds digital workers for sales teams, using AI to handle tasks such as follow-ups and tool integration. He also commented on the software industry, saying that the original promise of SaaS—continuous updates without user burden—has not been fulfilled for enterprises, and he suggested that digital workers could help users adopt new features automatically. In interviews about GreyOrange, Kohli described the company as a fulfillment operating system provider, with its GrayMatter platform making real-time decisions in warehouses. He noted that less than 4–5% of warehouses worldwide are automated, and he attributed the low rate to a historical lack of need, as warehouses were seen as cost centers. Kohli said that warehouse workers walk 16–17 kilometers per day and that attrition rates can reach 3,000%, but he added that attrition decreases when workers collaborate with robots. He also stated that British businesses are the least automated in the G7 and called automation a "do or die" moment for the industry.
