“The people who come to us with passion to do something extraordinary end up making the money. The people who come to us wanting to make money never do.”
On , Tim Draper, Founder of Draper Associates at Draper Associates, spoke about entrepreneurship during AI to Prevent Preterm Births | Meet the Drapers S9: Silicon Valley (TiE) on DraperTV.
Tim Draper, founder of Draper Associates, made several public appearances in early to mid-2026 where he discussed Bitcoin, artificial intelligence, and venture capital. At the BitGo High Roller Summit during Bitcoin2026 in Las Vegas, Draper stated that Bitcoin "is actually potentially going to eclipse fiat currencies because it's just better." He recommended that families hold enough Bitcoin to survive for six months, that businesses hold at least two weeks of payroll in Bitcoin, and that governments hold Bitcoin as a hedge against hyperinflation. In a separate interview at ALTSLA 2026, Draper said he was "absolutely certain" Bitcoin would quadruple by 2028, citing supply-and-demand patterns following halving events. He also told the Investment Crowdfunding Week 2026 keynote that he believes regulatory reform is the "single biggest unlock" for the investment crowdfunding industry, and described AI and Bitcoin as the two technologies reshaping everything. Draper also spoke about his investment philosophy and the qualities he looks for in entrepreneurs. In an interview on Market Overtime, he said, "My failures were all failures to act," and advised that true entrepreneurs will pursue an idea "no matter what anybody says." At the Draper Pitch Competition finals at the University of Texas at Dallas, he said he looks for ideas that are "challenging the status quo, and maybe coming up with something that's a little bit weird, controversial, interesting." Draper also discussed his belief that AI will merge with robotics and Bitcoin, suggesting that robots on an assembly line could use Bitcoin to pay each other. He has met several people suspected of being Satoshi Nakamoto but stated he does not believe he has met the Bitcoin creator.
