Ferry Unardi, CEO and co-founder of Traveloka, has discussed the company's strategy to expand beyond travel into lifestyle and financial services. In a November 2019 interview, he stated that Traveloka is "at a stage where we are relatively stable in our core businesses but we also want to grow into new verticals such as lifestyle and financial services." He described the company as "conservative" in fundraising, saying it is "very selective in terms of working with investors that also think like us, thinking long-term." Unardi also noted that Traveloka has "a clear path to profitability" and could be profitable "within the next three to five years," adding that the company has considered a dual listing on a local Indonesian exchange and a global exchange, likely in the U.S. In earlier appearances, Unardi reflected on Traveloka's evolution from a travel search engine to an online travel agent, describing the transition as "a huge shift" that required building customer support and transaction capabilities. Speaking at a 2014 event, he emphasized that "the key to our success has been continuously evolving and adapting" and that "continuous evolution is essential to avoid becoming irrelevant in a fast-changing market." He also credited government support for tech companies in Indonesia, stating that "the support that the government has given to tech companies has been amazing."
