In a May 2026 interview at IBM Think 2026, Sripriya Srinivasan, general manager of core and ALM software products at IBM Corp., discussed the launch of IBM Sovereign Core, a software platform made generally available at the event. Srinivasan described digital sovereignty as evolving across four dimensions — data, operational, technology and AI — and argued that the primary driver is operational resiliency rather than regulatory compliance. She stated that Sovereign Core is designed to give clients choice among IBM technology, third-party proprietary technology, and open-source tools, all within a sovereign boundary. Srinivasan noted that allowing customers to bring their own models into a sovereign boundary presents challenges in maintaining that boundary, and said the platform includes an extensible catalog with ecosystem partners. She said that with the solution, customers have reported being able to deploy AI in production in "matter of days" rather than 12 to 18 months.
