On September 17, 2024, Jeffrey Woods, operations group president for Acadia Healthcare, delivered remarks at a groundbreaking ceremony for a 96-bed behavioral health hospital in partnership with Methodist Jennie Edmundson Hospital. Woods, who described himself as a doctor of nursing practice and a former Army officer with 30 years of psychiatric nursing experience, said the facility would serve patients across the lifespan for mental health and substance abuse needs. He stated that the hospital was "purpose built for the dignity, integrity, and well-being of our patients, staff, and community," featuring open spaces, natural sunlight, and recreational courtyards to support treatment of the "whole person—mind, body, and spirit." During his remarks, Woods referenced the recent suicide of a former Acadia employee, a 36-year-old man who had left the company about a year and a half prior, saying the news "moved the hearts of all of us at Acadia." He described the hospital as offering "hope and promise not only for healing but for the opportunity to inspire healing for the community." Woods also thanked partners including Isa Diaz, senior vice president of strategic affairs, whom he credited as the driver of the project, and acknowledged first responders, stating that the hospital looks forward to supporting their needs.
