“This piece is a five-movement piece for flute, piano and cello, and each movement represents a different element — this particular movement is representing Earth.”
On , Christopher Jessup, Senior Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer at AAR CORP, spoke about composition during Christopher Jessup - Phases: III. "Dampening" from IN THE COMPANY OF MUSIC on PARMA Recordings.
Christopher Jessup, a composer from New York City and Juilliard School alumnus, discussed his five-movement piece for flute, piano, and cello in a September 2024 appearance. He described each movement as representing a different element, with the third movement, "Dampening," representing Earth. Jessup called it his favorite movement, characterizing it as "very grounded" and a "centering, meditating movement" that serves as a "palette cleanser" for the piece. Jessup stated that he has been working with a musician named Paris since 2021 and that he enjoys taking risks and spontaneity in his composing. He also said that after participating in reading sessions at music schools and universities, he considers this piece "by far the most promising work by a composer in this age category" he has seen in a long time.
