“UB unifies interconnect across the entire computer system. The same protocol and hardware used inside and outside the box. Through a fully peer-to-peer architecture, we avoid a close layer conversion latency with improved the reliability and reduce cost from multiple protocols to one.”
On , Liang Hua, Chairman at Huawei, spoke about AI infrastructure during HUAWEI Tau (τ) Scaling Law Livestream on Huawei.
On May 25, 2026, Liang Hua delivered the opening speech at the East Coast 2026 event, where Huawei presented the Tau (τ) Scaling Law. He stated that over the past six years, his team had "explored new paths in semiconductor and find a way for sustainable evolution." Liang Hua described a shift "from geometric to the time scaling as the new guiding principle for electronic system evolution." He said that by 2031, Huawei's high-end chips based on this law are expected to feature a transistor density equivalent to 14 Å (1.4 nm) processes. Liang Hua discussed the company's progress, noting that "logical folding is a new but universal design methodology for digital circuits and systems" and that "over 80% of energy goes into moving data and over 70% of cost into storing it." He said that the Tau scaling path has been proven "feasible universal and sustainable at the different time levels" through six years of practice involving 381 chips. Liang Hua added that the company will "bring the surprise not saturation not continuation but a big leap ahead" and that its vision remains "to bring digital to every person, home and organization for a fully connected intelligent world."
