From Sharen Gardner - Early warning signs of lower limb problems · · The Leg Club Channel
“Varicose veins... tend to be seen as more of a cosmetic problem rather than a medical problem but actually these can be one of the really early signs that there's something going on with the circulation in your leg.”
On , Sharon Gardner, Senior Manager Investor Relations & Corporation Communications at RPC INC, spoke about varicose veins during Sharen Gardner - Early warning signs of lower limb problems on The Leg Club Channel.
Sharon Gardner, a clinical specialist for HR Healthcare, gave a presentation in September 2022 on recognizing early signs of chronic venous insufficiency. She described the condition as occurring when the valves in leg veins fail to work properly. Gardner stated that varicose veins are often seen as a cosmetic problem but can be an early sign of circulation issues, and she said that having varicose veins increases the risk of developing a deep vein thrombosis. She listed other early warning signs including leg pain that worsens with standing and improves when legs are elevated, swelling in the feet and ankles, and skin changes such as hair loss or altered color and texture. Gardner noted that acting on these signs early could make a difference to future leg health.
