Timothy Rogelstad, Senior Vice President of Electric Platform at Otter Tail Power Company, described the company as an investor-owned electric utility serving approximately 132,000 customers across 422 communities in rural Minnesota, North Dakota, and South Dakota. He stated that the company has about 800 employees and owns and operates its own generation, transmission, and distribution facilities. Rogelstad emphasized that safety is the company's number one priority, describing it as a "value" that includes providing a safe workplace and expecting safe work practices from employees. He noted that the executive team begins meetings with a safety message to demonstrate its importance across all levels. Rogelstad said the company has been working on moving safety "from a value to behavior," arguing that what matters is that employees' behaviors demonstrate they work safely. He advised that "we're never done with safety" and that past performances should be viewed as learning experiences, with the focus on performing the next task safely. He also congratulated the Minnesota Safety Council on its 90th anniversary.
