About C. Guyer
Greg Guyer, Ph.D., joined BioMarin in May 2020 and serves as its Chief Technical Officer and Executive Vice President. In a September 2023 appearance, Guyer described the company as being "founded on just unbelievably strong science" and "on this kind of cusp of the next generation of breakthrough products." He noted that senior leaders in the organization participate directly in research and development work, including viral vector efforts, to gain intimate understanding of products from their inception. Guyer stated that this "scientific acumen" is a "critical foundational skill" that creates "seamlessness from R&D into the process development into our commercial manufacturing," which he said gives the company "a lot higher probability of success." He previously worked at the FDA and at Bristol Myers Squibb, where he said he developed an interest in new technologies.
