On , Yao Morin, Chief Technology Officer at JONES LANG LASALLE INC, spoke about AI deployment during JLL CTO Yao Morin on AI, Data Strategy, and the Future of Real Estate | Technovation 1007 on Metis Strategy.
Yao Morin, Chief Technology Officer at JLL, has discussed the company's approach to artificial intelligence adoption. She stated that JLL launched its proprietary AI application, JLGPT, to employees first to learn how to safeguard data and set guardrails before releasing client-facing products. Morin reported that the app has more than 10,000 weekly active users and 15,000 to 20,000 monthly active users among JLL's 100,000 employees, exceeding an initial goal of 1,000 weekly active users. She noted that measuring AI adoption through usage metrics is straightforward, but translating that efficiency into revenue or margin generation remains a challenge. Morin has also commented on broader industry trends related to AI. She said that AI capability is leading to smaller scrum teams, shrinking from six to eight software engineers to three or four. She stated that software engineers will need to learn to use AI code editors and will "code less and review more." Morin observed that consulting and law firms face challenges maintaining revenue as AI reduces billable hours, forcing them to rethink their commercial models. She emphasized that data is the foundation of AI and will continue to be a competitive advantage for companies, and that safeguarding client data is paramount as AI technologies are released.
