Sun Peak’s management team has worked in the region for over 15 years with both Nevsun Resources on the Bisha Project and Sunridge Gold on the Asmara Project. The Shire Project is comprised of four exploration licenses and covers more than 1,000 square kilometers in northern Ethiopia. The licenses are on the same geological trend as both the Bisha Mine and the Asmara Projects to the north in Eritrea and Newmont’s project also in Ethiopia, to the south. Sun Peak will recommence work on three exploration licenses at the Shire Project in the first half of 2024, which will include drilling to test multiple copper-gold VMS targets developed by the Company. Over the last couple of years, Sun Peak has been conducting exploration on the Shire Project, applying the same exploration techniques the team used in the past. This includes a 6,000 line km airborne VTEM survey completed October 2019 and detailed ground gravity surveys over several high priority targets. More than 20 gold and copper targets have been defined so far and Sun Peak's initial drill program was completed in March 2020.
