“We went and thought about it a lot and decided that we were going to commit all of our resources R&D leadership Focus lobbying Etc on meeting the emissions Target as planned and to do it with an engine that was more reliable and more fuel efficient and that's what we set out to do and by 2002 we were the first company to meet the standard to to to get an engine registered to the new standard and we laid out a technology road map that took us through the inevitable tougher regulations that were going to come up in 2007 and 2010.”
