In a 2013 interview, Oliver Mihm, then Vice President of Global Engineering Solutions at Plexus, described the company as a "product realization services provider" that handles conceptualization, design, manufacturing, fulfillment, and sustaining solutions for OEMs. Mihm noted a shift in product development toward incorporating end-user needs earlier in the cycle, stating that "instead of waiting till later in the cycle to pull those needs in, we're recognizing that upfront during that conceptualization you've got to go out there, meet the end user, pull those requirements in." He attributed this change to time-to-market pressures and the goal of creating a more successful product.
