In a July 2023 podcast appearance, Andy Lightfoot discussed the role of luck in career progression. He stated that he has "been incredibly lucky" and that becoming a CEO involves "a huge amount of luck," adding that many others have the requisite talent and skills but that being in the "right place, right time" with the "right sponsor" is a significant factor.
