Brian Karscig, a musician and cofounder of Music Ai, discussed his career history in two 2018 podcast appearances. In an episode of "Stories From The Scene," he recounted his involvement with San Diego bands Convoy, Louis XIV, and The Nervous Wreckords, describing how Convoy evolved into Louis XIV after a lineup change. He credited the local radio program 91X Loudspeaker as a formative supporter of his bands, calling it a "birthing tidepool" for his musical projects, and noted that transitioning from Convoy to Louis XIV initially met with resistance from local fans. In a separate podcast episode, Karscig reflected on the music industry, stating that his band signed with Atlantic Records in 2004, which he described as one of the last years of traditional record deals before the rise of 360 deals and social media. He expressed no criticism of the major label system, saying he was treated well and allowed creative freedom. He also mentioned his close friendship and songwriting partnership with Jason Hill, and discussed early plans for new musical directions after ending a previous band.
