Jonathan Lin, Chief Business Officer at Equinix, has been discussing the role of data center infrastructure in supporting AI workloads)Skip. In a December 2025 video, Lin stated that "AI is only as strong as the infrastructure underneath it" and described Equinix's AI Solutions Lab as a place where enterprises can "plug into the world's leading AI service providers, run proof of concepts and actually test drive solutions before they scale." In an April 2025 interview, Lin said that overall data center demand "is quite strong and robust" and that "AI is only a portion of the workloads that are being housed by data centers." He noted that power constraints are a key challenge, stating that Equinix is "hopeful working with the administration that we can get forward progress on some of the permitting issues" for nuclear energy and that natural gas is "a bridge solution" the company is pursuing. Lin also said that less than 10% of Equinix's power globally comes from nuclear facilities. Lin has also emphasized Equinix's partnerships and sustainability efforts. In a January 2025 Q&A, he discussed Equinix Private AI with NVIDIA DGX, describing private AI as giving enterprise customers "full control of all of the infrastructure, all of the data sets." In a 2024 interview, Lin said sustainability is "a core ethos" for Equinix and that the company has "over 95%" renewable power globally. He also stated that Equinix has "a hundred data centers in our existing fleet that can support liquid cooling." Lin has described the current period as "the early innings of a super cycle for AI investment" and said that "about two-thirds expect an ROI within 12 months" from AI investments.
“AI is only as strong as the infrastructure underneath it. Many enterprises are wrestling with the same question. Where does AI actually run? AI is multi-stage, multi-location and multi-provider, and no one is positioned to bring all of that together like Equinix.”
“That's why we've also built something new that allows enterprises to do just that. We're calling it the AI Solutions Lab at our Equinix solution validation centers — where enterprises can plug into the world's leading AI service providers, run proof of concepts and actually test drive solutions before they scale.”
“The overall data center picture for demand is quite strong and robust. And AI is only a portion of the workloads that are being housed by data centers.”
“Data centers are powering everything we do every day.”
