Gary Brown
Gary Brown was born in Van Wert, Ohio, after World War II. He moved several times while growing up. After graduating from high school in Fort Collins, Colorado in 1965, he tried college, decided he wasn't ready for it, and volunteered to be drafted into the Army. Unlike many young men at the time, he actually wanted to fight in Vietnam, but the Army assigned him to Air Defense Command at Fort Bliss, Texas, where he had done basic training.
