We now discuss with you, Nicolas, the case of Nantes Atlantique, three years after the abandonment of the Notre-Dame-des-Landes project. Elected officials are demanding accountability to protect the residents around Nantes Atlantique. The government had committed to it. So, is Nantes Atlantique going to resist this strong growth and the return of traffic, Nicolas?

The Atlantic region is very dynamic. We have managed this airport since 2010, and it has seen the strongest growth in France over 12 years due to great demographics and attractiveness. Post-COVID, people are settling here. Our role is to ensure quality and adapt infrastructure. This summer went well with no baggage or operational issues despite the strong recovery. The government plans to redevelop the airport, which is necessary. We have organized and I salute our incredible teams. We will ensure smooth operations until additional investments arrive.

In terms of sustainable development, a very topical subject, what is VINCI Airport doing?

We chose to be a leader. Climate change is real; aviation is 3% of CO2 but must act. We aim for net-zero airports: Toulon next year, Lyon Saint-Exupéry by 2026. We use LEDs, biogas, electric vehicles, zero waste, water reuse, and tree planting. We export this model globally. We have tariff modulation for fuel efficiency and pioneered sustainable biofuels with Michelin. We partner with Airbus and Air Liquide for hydrogen.

And you have also signed agreements with major groups like Airbus and Air Liquide to go in what direction, and why exactly?

The second step is the global aviation commitment to net-zero by 2050, signed by all states at ICAO. It relies on sustainable biofuels and hydrogen. Airbus targets a hydrogen plane by 2035. The challenge is producing green hydrogen and airport infrastructure. Lyon Saint-Exupéry is a pilot: we produce solar energy and will produce hydrogen for ground vehicles and eventually for planes.
