0:20What has been the thought behind this Unlimited India strategy?
1:41The only complaint I see after the price reveal for the higher variants, people are saying it's a bit too expensive. But what is your feedback?
3:41... ever consider that because one of the biggest batteries that are available in the country in the mass market segment, so is that something because that would have got your number very attractive, would have made the number very attractive?
4:45When was the point when you thought okay this is going to be a really feature-rich product?
7:21And of course it will take you are in court, but did you ever expect that this will go through this proportion?
I am at a stall where interest is super high-end. That's why the 9e and to talk more about them and the strategy I have with the man himself. Mr. Rajesh Jejurikar, thank you so much Rajesh for taking time thus for being here with us.
I wanted to ask you that you know Unlimited India has been your theme with this product, with these two products. What has been the thought behind this Unlimited India strategy? So much you have seen from November onwards. One of the key thoughts behind what we have been doing is really to say the Indian automotive industry has now reached a stage where we are creating world-beating products in record time. I mean this whole thing was concept to execution in three years, and giving technology comparable to brands in the world at Indian prices. So you know that.
That's why we named it Unlimited India because it's beyond, so much beyond what India, what just Mahindra can do. You know, generally what happens is at this expo, a new product gets a lot of attention, but the BE 6 and XEV 9 have been around now, but I can see the interest in that in this stall, it's just phenomenal.
So what is the market telling you? How is it? The only complaint I see after the price reveal for the higher variants, people are saying it's a bit too expensive. But what is your feedback?
Well, you know, we will have all the right… Just that we decided to sequence the booking opening starting with the top end pack. And the reason for that are two things. We kind of said, and what we were picking up from the launch and the feedback that we were getting from customers is people do want to experience the technology, and we are bringing some really great, first-time available technologies. So we kind of said let's open the bookings for the top end, which is the pack three, but give it at the same EMI as what they would get for pack one. So even though the absolute price is higher, we have been able to create in a way democratize technology and allow many more consumers to experience a really good offer with high tech. But most important, 79 kWh because a 79 kWh battery we are confident will give more than 500 km range in real-world city usage. We believe that breaking that barrier of range anxiety is a very important part of category creation, and hence we kind of said let's get the first set of customers out using the top 79 kWh build confidence on the range before we start opening other versions, which we will do.
You are talking about pricing and the EMI part. I also remember MG introduced battery as a service. Did you ever consider that because one of the biggest batteries that are available in the country in the mass market segment, so is that something because that would have got your number very attractive, would have made the number very attractive?
Yes, you know, I think it was a very good idea of studying and inciting around that. Customers would rather, if you are funding it and taking finance, then you would rather have whole ownership. Why would you convert your ownership into fraction if anyway you are financing it? So in a way, battery service is an alternate financing option, but you don't have ownership. So why not have ownership? And which is what we built on that idea to come and say let's create an EMI package which enables pack 3 EMI to be the same as pack one. So in a way that was our way of saying we make this really accessible to you.
