My name is Tony Xu. I'm the CEO and co-founder of DoorDash. Thank you so much for joining us today. Dash Forward is our event where we give you an inside look into some of the things that we're building at DoorDash. But before we get to the demos, I thought I'd provide some upfront context about why you'll be seeing some of the products that we're releasing, as well as tell you about how they connect to the company's future. Since day one, our mission at DoorDash has been to grow and to empower local economies. We want to connect every local business, small, medium, and large, to every local consumer. And we want to do this globally because these local businesses represent a significant portion of the economy. If we can achieve our goals, then we believe that we can help cities grow in the best possible way by organically growing their GDP and job index and in turn producing more vibrant and safer neighborhoods. Our journey began with restaurant delivery in the United States and today DoorDash has become a household name serving millions of Americans lunch and dinner. Along the way, we've also built the foundational technologies to bring you everything inside the city while enabling every single one of our merchant partners to become omnichannel businesses. Today, besides our US restaurant delivery marketplace, some of these foundations have grown into products and businesses of their own, including an international marketplace that now serves 34 geographies, gaining share in virtually every single country, a new verticals business that is on track to becoming the leading US third-party marketplace and delivery volume outside of restaurant goods, a B2B commerce platform that is used by hundreds of thousands of restaurants and retailers to enable mobile and online ordering and delivery, and an ads business that was the fastest in history to achieve a billion dollars in annualized revenue in under three years.
Today you're going to hear about some of these foundations and the announcements will cover many of these areas. We'll also talk about a couple of new domains that we're pursuing and future foundations that we're building. Our approach into each one of these areas is to look at the technology and create products that solve real customer problems. Whether that pertains to applying the latest techniques in AI or how we build autonomous technologies. So, let's start with our core delivery marketplace. For merchants, our goal has always been to help them become better businesses. Whether that means sending them incremental orders through our marketplace or by helping them go digital through our commerce platform products, DoorDash Drive and DoorDash Storefront. Today, we're introducing new merchandising tools to help these merchants grow their digital sales. And we're launching a new hardware device to help increase order accuracy and to reduce costs.
For dashers, we're launching a completely new designed app that will feature a mapping system purpose-built for delivery. This is an example of an effort over years in which we fine-tuned parameters such as apartment entries and exits, gate codes, parking spaces, amongst many other variables to master the final 100 feet of delivery. We're excited to package all of this inside a new app so that dashers can deliver with greater accuracy so that we can enable faster delivery times and ultimately help dashers earn more.
For consumers, we'll be highlighting some applications of AI where it'll make it easier to order through the DoorDash app with better personalized recommendations and have greater and richer video content from new verticals. We're super excited to be joined by our newest partner on our grocery marketplace. We're also excited to be launching a warehousing capability for all retailers so that they can enable fast and accurate delivery. You see, the hardest challenge with delivering non-restaurant items is knowing where everything sits. Where is every item on the shelf, on the aisle, across every store inside the city? That's not only the hardest problem for retailers, but it's also the biggest pain point for consumers. After all, what's the point of ordering delivery if not everything shows up or if you don't get exactly what you ordered? But what if we could create an operation from the ground up where we managed end to end the inventory system? That's exactly what we did when we launched Dashmarts. About five years ago, we launched a network of warehouses called Dashmarts, where we stored items like household goods, grocery perishables to test whether or not we could create a more accurate ordering experience to enable perfect deliveries. And we're super excited to be unveiling this capability today to all retailers so that they can use DoorDash's end-to-end system of warehousing, inventory management, logistics, and delivery to offer fast and perfect deliveries.
I'm also excited today to talk about two new domains that we're pursuing, in-store and autonomy. Our goal since day one has always been to connect every local business with every local consumer. Predominantly, historically, the way we've done this is in one direction where we bring everything inside the city to you. But we all know that delivery isn't the only way in which consumers and businesses engage. After all, whether you're dining inside restaurants or shopping inside stores, all of these activities are complementary to delivery. That's why delivery has remained strong even though the effects of COVID-19 have normalized. So, we're excited today to be launching the first iteration of how consumers can use the DoorDash app to dine inside restaurants. And along the way, we'll also share with you how we're creating the most comprehensive 360 view of guests for restaurant owners, empowering them with the deepest and largest data sets to forge the best relationships with their customers. Finally, we'll conclude by giving you a brief peek into the work that we've been investing in in building autonomous technologies. This is an in-house effort that we've been pursuing for over seven years. And while we can't show you everything today, we are very excited to show you what we are building and how these technologies are very different from the already amazing robotaxi products you may have used and have seen in the world. I hope today's announcements and the demos that we'll be showcasing will give you a better sense of where DoorDash is already and a better sense of where we're going. We've graduated from being a single restaurant delivery marketplace in the United States into a multi-product, multi-category global business, creating the future of local commerce.
All right, we've got a lot to show you, so I'm going to hand the mic over to Paresa Sadza, who is leading our efforts on in-store, building the experience to help consumers dine out.
Hi everyone. It's so great to be with you today. I'm Paresa Sadza, vice president of strategy and operations. There are many ways we connect with people every day. Whether it's a quick coffee break with a coworker, a dinner out with a family at a favorite spot, or a night out celebrating with friends, these are the moments that bring us together and help us connect with and enjoy our communities. At DoorDash, our goal is simple. To help you discover the best of your community and make those connections easier, stronger, and more rewarding. Today, we're thrilled to introduce Going Out, a new way to discover and enjoy local restaurants and make DashPass even more rewarding for our members. With Going Out, you can find and redeem exclusive in-app offers when you dine in and earn rewards just for coming back, making DoorDash the ultimate companion for everything from last minute plans after work to watching the game with friends at your local bar to a date night at a new spot. This year, Going Out customers received an average of $9 in value per order when using offers. That's like a free ice latte just for dining in store. Let me show you what it looks like right now in San Francisco. All right. So, if you open your DoorDash app, and you see I'm wiggling the top of it right here. Right next to the Dashmart icon, there's a table with two chairs and going out. So, if you click into that, you'll see a map rich with pins. And these are all pins with restaurants that have active in-app offers, in-store offers. And you can scroll in. These are all in walking distance, you'll see lots of different logos. If I scroll up, you'll see I see a punch card right at the bottom there, which shows if I go out four times in a row, just for going out four times in a row, I'll receive $15 in DoorDash credits. And then you'll see saved deals. I've saved some in my wallet. You'll see some most popular offers. There's some that's $3 in DoorDash credits. You'll see some that's $5 off on $15. You'll see some that are in walking distance. And then let's say I'm craving Thai for later. I click into that. I can see some pictures of the restaurant. It tells me that I check in at the restaurant. I tap my phone when I pay and I earn rewards. So, I'm going to claim that deal for later. You can check out what I just did after the event. Going Out rewards are now live at thousands of restaurants in select markets across the US and Australia for DashPass members. And for a limited time, we're making it available for all DoorDash customers, so everyone can try it out. Going Out saves you time, it saves you money, and soon it saves you a seat. For the first time, all DoorDash customers will be able to book reservations directly in the DoorDash app. And every time you book through DoorDash, you'll earn credits to use toward future orders. This is all possible thanks to our new integration with SevenRooms. They're a leader in helping restaurants create great experiences for their guests, and now we're bringing their powerful tools directly into the DoorDash app. We're starting in Miami in a few weeks, and we'll expand to additional cities in the US and Australia later this year. Soon, you'll be able to easily secure a table for a night out with friends at the corner store in New York City or a special anniversary dinner at Cadana in Miami, all in one place with DoorDash. And for our DashPass members, we've reserved exclusive tables and extra rewards just for members, so you can snag that coveted Saturday night reservation and then book yourself a discounted lift ride to get there. So, let's recap. Hit the video.
Hi, I'm Danny Meyer. I'm so grateful for the opportunity we've had for several years now to partner with SevenRooms who've given us the opportunity to know our guests much more deeply and therefore to offer an even greater level of hospitality. And now with DoorDash, we can even reach more potential customers that we never knew before. What could be better? More sales, more hospitality. It's a great equation.
Good morning. I'm Shauna Pury, head of global partnerships for DoorDash. Merchants are the heart of our platform and we get to speak to them every day. What we're going to show you today is the direct result of feedback we've heard. Merchants are looking for more ways to grow their business and better tools to serve their customers. That's why today when you go into the DoorDash app and you see beautiful, mouthwatering images, I'm definitely more likely to purchase that burger. So today we're announcing video, giving every restaurant the content tools they need to enable video from their store page. This gives restaurants the opportunity to better merchandise the dishes they're known for or help new menu items make that delicious first impression. Video is a beautiful and powerful way to turn browsing into ordering. Next, we've built a tool called Smart Scale. And here it is. Have you ever had that moment where you open your delivery bag and the guacamole you've been craving all day, maybe you built your whole order around it is missing? Smart Scale addresses that. It learns the weight of each menu item and alerts the restaurant if something's missing from your order before the bag leaves the store. This helps restaurants address two major issues. The first is order accuracy, making sure each customer receives exactly what they ordered. And the second is delivering a reliable guest experience every time. Let's take a look. What restaurants love about Smart Scale is that it gives hospitality staff a chance to fix any issues in real time. This reduces the number of missing and incorrect items. It cuts customer complaints and it avoids expensive remakes. It also gets your order to the Dasher faster and ensures every restaurant receives a timestamped confirmation of when your order was handed off. Now, this is my favorite part. Smart Scale attaches seamlessly to robots and drones so customers receive their order as quickly and accurately as possible. No missing guacamole. We've seen the results. Smart Scale cuts claims by up to 30%. And our partners are thrilled. One brand putting all of this into action is Panera. Let's take a look. Thank you, Minakshi. We have a Smart Scale demo just outside, so please make sure to stop by. What I love about these innovations is that they're already making a difference. They're helping our restaurants run more efficiently, look even better in the app, and deliver to their customers with confidence. To share more about our next announcement, it's my pleasure to introduce DoorDash President and COO Prabir Adarkar.
Hi everyone, I'm Prabir Adarkar, president and chief operating officer at DoorDash. I'm delighted to share that Kroger will be available nationwide on the DoorDash marketplace in the coming weeks. We first partnered with Kroger in 2022, starting small in categories like flowers, sushi, and prepared food. Today, we're expanding our relationship to include Kroger's broad assortment of fresh food, household essentials, and its private label brands. Kroger is now the largest grocer on the DoorDash marketplace and we are deeply honored to partner with one of America's leading grocers. Now I'd like to invite Yael Cosset, Kroger's chief digital officer to talk about Kroger's vision for our partnership. Welcome Yael.
Thank you. No, thank you. Thank you for having me. A huge thank you to the DoorDash team for making the milestone today possible. I'm Yael Cosset. I'm the chief digital and technology officer for the Kroger company. And we serve over 60 million families, households across America in both our stores and our digital ecosystem. Some of you may know us under different brands. We have on the west coast we have Ralphs, we have Fred Meyer, we have QFC, Smith's, King Soopers, many many different banner names, but ultimately one single mission. Our mission is to remove the friction that our customers face when they shop for fresh quality food without compromising on the value they get. And the expansion of our relationship today marks a huge milestone where we bring convenience on-demand delivery under one hour to millions of families.
Thank you, Yael. And can you describe why this expanded relationship is important to Kroger?
It is really important because as you pointed out, as your team pointed out earlier today, it allows us to reach more families together, more families that we didn't reach or you didn't reach necessarily with that offering with that seamless customer experience. Not just about essentials last minute items. It's about the entire assortment that we can offer together to our customers. Tens of thousands of items, the items that matter to them around fresh food, around essential and daily grocery items. We believe, you believe, we believe in a world where we don't have to ask customers to compromise on that experience. No need to compromise on the choice of product, no need to compromise on how they shop online, in store. And no need to compromise on the quality and the value they get from the experience that we deliver. And that is what we're going to bring together to many millions of families. And that additional reach is going to be quite transformative for our companies.
Amazing. And what are you most excited about in terms of our relationship moving forward?
Well, sitting here this morning and listening to the team actually was the perfect reminder of why we are excited, why I am excited. You are about connecting customers and connecting dashers to simplify their world. We are also about connecting customers to that quality differentiated customer experience around food and we know food brings people together and we also know customer expectations are changing rapidly constantly and what defines DoorDash, what has come through clearly this morning is the innovation spirit and commitment to innovation and together we are committed to that innovation to transforming that customer experience and that's what gets us, gets me really excited. We're going to innovate together. We're going to test new fulfillment models that are going to bring that connected customer experience around fresh, around accuracy and speed without compromising on the relevance of the experience. And we're also going to continue to push the envelope in how we collaborate around data. Data at the service of that customer experience, that personalization, but also data for better customer centric insight, better retail media experiences for our joint brand partners who also are committed to driving that relevance. So, we're very excited about continuing to change the industry, change the grocery and food experience together, and the innovation you guys drive and what we can do together is really exciting and why we are really happy with the milestone that we achieved today.
Amazing. Thank you so much for the trust and the partnership.
